Getting your loom set up to weave is a crucial step in determining the outcome of your project. A better warp means a happy weaving experience!
Over my years of teaching rigid heddle weaving I have discovered something. Well, many things actually, but this is one of the key discoveries:
Most weaving project problems can be traced back to the warping stage.
I have put together a class to focus on the issues I am constantly asked about and that can be avoided with the right knowledge when it comes to warping.
This class takes you through the main issues I see rigid heddle weavers encountering and shows you ways to avoid these pitfalls.
I demonstrate the warping process in order to illustrate the importance of even tension. We talk about common problems like:
* What is good tension?
* Smiling/frowning in your weaving
* Neat edges
I also cover other really helpful things to know before you start a new project. Things like:
* Beating
* Sett
* Yarn choices
You can think of a successful weaving project as one where all the best ingredients have come together to make something wonderful. You just need to know what the ingredients are and how to combine them in the right way.
Setting up for Success is a great follow up class to the Woe to Go Beginner’s class, but it’s also an excellent refresher for the more seasoned rigid heddle weaver.
