The Louet David is a fantastic loom for beginner floor loom weavers.

The David was my first floor loom and I’m happy to say that it is still in regular use and a very valued piece of equipment in my studio.

Here are just a few of the reasons why I recommend this particular floor loom:

  • The David is small, light and compact, making it perfect for a smaller space. I can move my David myself and it takes up very little space.
  • There are 8 shafts and 10 treadles, which gives the weaver many possibilities.
  • There are two weaving widths available – 70cm and 90cm. I own the 90cm and it has been a great weaving width for a huge variety of projects. I’ve also woven a double width blanket.
  • The treadling is SO light! This is wonderful for someone with back pain issues (like me) because it means that the weaving process is so kind to your body.
  • It’s a modern, sleek and quality built loom.
  • It’s super quiet and gentle.
