Has anyone ever said that to you? Maybe you have longed to hear those words but it just never happened.
There are certain words that we all hope to hear at some time in our lives, words that make us glow inside with happiness. “I love you” might be at the top, but I reckon that “I’m proud of you” comes in a close second.
My husband has repeated both of these sentences to me many times, something that I am ever so grateful for. But recently I heard “I am proud of you” from somebody else. Someone who is very important to me. Someone who struggles with expressing emotions.
I’m not going to tell you who it was, in the interests of protecting and respecting privacy. What I can tell you is that hearing those words from that person floored me. I teared up and for the rest of the day I felt like I was floating on a cloud.
When I was thinking about what I wanted to say to you in this “end of 2021” post today, the words “I am proud of you” kept resonating in my mind.
I am so grateful for the position I’ve been given, the friendships I have with my students and followers and the immense blessing it is to watch and help you all learn and improve.
Yes, I am so very proud of ALL of you!
People look to me for inspiration, but in reality, it is all of you who inspire me every single day.
If you’re not feeling very proud of yourself right now, I hope you will think again.
Here are some of the things I’ve discovered about all of you through the Online Weaving School.
- You are smart
- You are eager to learn
- You are creative
- You don’t give up
- You are kind
- You are capable
- You are willing to try
- You are passionate
- You make the lives of others better (starting with me!)
I don’t make New year’s resolutions for two reasons:
- I know from past experience that I OVER resolve and then feel bad when I fail.
- Once a year is not often enough.
Here is my approach.
Each day is a new day. If you want to get right down to the truth, each moment is a new moment. A brand new opportunity.
You don’t need to wait until a specific day or date to be better. Decide how you want or need to be better and start right now!
Until next time…
Happy Weaving!

Wow, just found this blog thankfully because I need to join the chorus of people who are grateful for your input into ours lives. Hi Kelly –
I’m just now catching up on the blog posts and I have to agree with you – very rarely do I hear the words “I’m proud of you.
There are so many times I accomplish something and get a “that’s nice” or “good for you”. I’ve learned to be proud of myself and take pride in what I accomplish.
So, let me say this to you –
I not only admire you for what you’ve accomplished as a weaver, but I am proud of you for what you’ve shown us as a mother and woman of perseverance in teaching us all about weaving and continually giving all of us insights into being better people with your kind words..
Kelly
That is very kind, thank you so much Lori ❤️

Oh my goodness, I just now read this. I’m so thankful I found you on YouTube. I never make resolutions either for the same reason. I always choose a word and try to apply it to my life every day. Last year it was Commit. This year it is two words. “Be Better” I just want to be a better person and do better today than I did yesterday. Every day. Thanks for sharing your heart!
Kelly
We could definitely all adopt the “Be Better” words! ❤️

Thank you Kelly for the inspiration to help us all get through, what I think is going to be a trying time in 2022, let alone what we all went through in 2021 (like you in Vic and out Gippsland way). We are planning this year fingers crossed to get down that way and SA in the caravan. All the best for 2022

Kelly, Thank you for who you are and what you do and give. You are a treasure in my life and many others.

Dear Kelly,
At a time where I feel very low I want to thank you for the uplifting words. It made me cry and think about how important today and tomorrow is to me.
Thank you again for the kind words. Can’t wait to see where 2022 brings to all of us.
Kelly
I’m sorry you’re feeling low Joyce, I too have a lot of low periods. It’s hard to have a correct perspective on the days when you’re feeling the worst, but what helps me is to acknowledge that it won’t last and I will feel good again. Maybe tomorrow, maybe the next day – it will come when it comes.
I’ll also mention that if the lowness doesn’t go away, maybe it’s time to get help. Start with a doctor who will really listen and go from there. All the best for the new year!

It has been such a pleasure and privilege to watch your success and accomplishments grow over the past year Kelly. I respect you so much, and am very proud of you and the way that you attain your goals through kindness, honesty, passion and hard work. Thank you for introducing me to the wonderful world of weaving, and for enabling me to be a part of the amazing and caring community of weavers that you continue to build. Wishing you and your family a very Happy New Year!
Janet
Happy new year wishes to you, Kelly. You inspire me every day. I love your videos and school and would not have progressed this far since July without your kindness and instructions. So many of my learning experiences have been shared as gifts to family and friends, and they return their thanks with how proud they are of my RHL and inkle weaving. Sending love and care to you and your family from snowy and very cold Washington State, USA.

I am not a participant in online groups but rather a lurker. But Kelly is such an inspiration that her postings are always a joy. Being a senior citizen I stay very close to home because of covid so I look forward to Kelly’s sunny disposition and goodness her knowledge and instructions are WONDERFUL. For someone old enough to be your mother, I cannot imagine how proud she must be of you. Thank you very much for all you do. IF I ever get to return to Australia perhaps we can meet.

What a lovely message to end the year on, it has been so difficult for so many but here’s hoping for a better2022. Thank you Kelly for your caring way of teaching, and for the wonderful inspirational projects. The group we have is one of the best and on that note I wish you and your family a happy, healthy New Year.
Loretta
Thank you Kelly for the inspiration! And to this wonderful group of weavers, thank you! You also are an inspiration to me. I sit in awe of your completed projects and can only dream of becoming half as good as you are. I know with Kelly’s encouragement and guidance, my skills will improve. Happy New Year and please remain safe and healthy.

Thank you Kelly, as always you write with great wisdom. I especially found it helpful to read of your views on not making New Year resolutions! A very happy New Year to you and your family. I look forward to all you have planned for your weaving school in 2022. x

Oh, Kelly! That made me tear up, too. I can’t tell you enough how much being a part of your weaving school has meant to me. For literally decades I shifted my little Schacht loom from house to house, not wanting to give it yup but not ready to tackle learning to weave–until I found your school. Now, weaving is a big part of my life. I am proud of you, too! And I know how it feels to have someone say that. My husband tells me all the time, and sometimes I don’t believe it.
Have a happy new year!
Deb
Sharon
Thank you so much, Kelly! We are so lucky and blessed to have you as our teacher! I’m really looking forward to the upcoming weave-along. And Happy New Year to you and your whole beautiful family!

Kelly,
Thank you and “I am proud of you and grateful for all you do for us.” You are a great teacher. The way you instruct is in a simple way anyone can understand. If we can’t it is a blessing to us all in those times, we can reach out to the weaving family that you have started. I also don’t weave much but I do the same as Ingrid, I read what others have written.
Thank you so much for starting and continuing these weaving classes. You have come a long way and have given much of yourself to those of us that need what God has given you to share.

Happy New Year, Kelly!! It has been an absolute pleasure being part of your school. I couldn’t have done this without you and I’m so glad I found you. Your teaching style is wonderful; you are so patient and kind, and I’m looking forward to spending more time “with you”. *grin* I’ve been focussing on spinning the last couple of months, but will be getting back into weaving soon. The towels I’ve given as presents were loved, especially your Fibonacci towels. Bless you and your family, Kelly. Have a wonderful holiday. See you in 2022!

Lovely post. Thank you. I’m very new to the group and am looking forward to your weaving school, which my husband purchased for me for Christmas. I have a question. I do get your emails and the one I received today sent me to this blog post. Do you always put a link to your blog posts in your emails? If yes, then I’m set, since I read all your emails and will see the links. If not, is there a way to subscribe to the blog posts? I don’t read any other blogs.
Kelly
Good question Debby! If you sign up to the mailing list via my blog, then you will get notified every time there is a new post. But if you sign up directly to the mailing list page, you will get the emails I send out once or twice a week.
Either way, you will get links to new blog posts, as I always share any new material in that weekly or bi weekly email 😊

Happy New Year, Kelly. You are an inspiration!. Thanks for your help and guidance the past year. Looking forward to many possibilities. Almost finished putting together my floor loom.

Kelly, thank you, thank you, thank you for your kind words. I don’t offer much to the group, but I always read avidly. That is mainly because I don’t get to weave as much as I would like. However, it is very comforting to know there is a weaving “family” out there and I know that if I get stuck, I can always fall back on some clever people without being judged. I wish you all the very best for the coming year and thank you again.
Kelly
All the best for your year ahead too Ingrid!
