Happy 2026 Kelly, and congratulations on the arrival of your new granddaughter. I received a book about 8 shaft weaving for Christmas. I have 2 Ashford rigid heddle looms. Are these capable of 8 shafts? I think my looms can’t accommodate this many shafts. I may need to donate this book to another weaver.

Technically it is possible to weave 8 shafts on a rigid heddle. I haven’t done it, mainly because I have 8 shaft looms. It would take a bit of setting up – basically you would need a lot of heddle rods! If you don’t see yourself doing that in future then gifting the book would be a lovely thing to do.
