How exciting, I can finally announce that I’m a guest artist for Gossamer Dreams this month, which might explain why things have been so quiet here! I’ve been putting a lot of time and planning into making items to fit the June theme (which is a secret, my lips are sealed!)

Although I can’t share the theme with you I can give you a sneaky peek of what I’ve been up to.

Don’t worry, there are plenty more so stay tuned in the coming days to get a peek at some more lovelies!

Gulp…. I’m scared!

OK, I’ve come this far, and I’ll readily admit it’s been a challenge. “But you’re a doll maker!” I hear you say. “Making bears should be easy for you – right?!”
WRONG!
You may notice that my otherwise assembled bear remains earless and faceless. There is a reason for that. Today I started to tentatively snip some hairy bits from around the muzzle, as you do, but was suddenly paralyzed (scissors in mid air) with fear that I was going to stuff it up. Badly. I don’t like to stuff up badly, especially when I’ve invested considerable time and money in the first place.
So maybe I need to get over myself a little, but in the meantime the bear will sit and look (well not actually look – she doesn’t have eyes) but just sit there until I get some courage to finish her off.
P.S. Any tips or recommendations will be heartily welcomed!

How wonderful to start the new year with a fantastic storm and a good bucketing of rain! The garden is being gently coaxed back to it’s pre – heat glory and the birds are singing again.
My motto is – if it’s too hot to drink tea and sew, then it’s too hot altogether!

I enjoyed my week off from blogging and am looking forward to seeing what you’ve all been up to.
I finished this bear in the nick of time for Christmas, he is now snuggled in one of the girl’s beds.
He is made from lovely soft velour and stuffed with wool. I knitted his scarf from organic yarn. He’s really cuddly. A tip for scarf making for toys – sew them on, or you’ll forever be re – tying them!
I don’t tend to celebrate the new year, I think some people go a bit overboard. I don’t make so called “resolutions” either, but I do think it’s a good time for assessing and making new goals.
So.. I do have a lot of goals, hopes and dreams for this year, many of which I’ll be sharing with you along the way.

I’m back!

And I have a new internet plan so hopefully that won’t happen again.
So, what have I been up to? Well, this guy I made as part of a Crafty Mamas swap, in my typical fashion I forgot to take pictures of the rest of the things I sent.

He was made from all recycled materials except for his clean wool stuffing. Note the wedding photo in the background!

I was lucky enough to win this pretty fabric on Corrine’s blog, I plan to make a little summer dress for one of the girls, I’m looking for the right pattern.

My first attempt at needle felting (its a dog, not a bear!). Many thanks to Marie for her guidance. Like most things, it was a little more difficult than I thought, but I have many plans for more needle felting. Practice makes perfect!

Today I’m working on a new doll – its been a long time, I lost my doll mojo there for a while, but its back with a vengeance, I’m really enjoying making this one and can’t wait to finish and list her in the shop.

Here it is, it took me forever to get on to it but my sister will finally get her Christmas present! I wholeheartedly recommend this pattern, it came together beautifully and looks fabulous. You can get it here but I purchased mine from the Crafty Mamas Shop.
Lastnight I drew up a bunny rabbit design for some of my wool felt, so I hope to get time to work on one today. I’m a little in between with projects, not really knowing what to do next. My dilemma is – I want to continue making waldorf dolls but my profit margin is so slim its not really worth the time and effort put in. I don’t know whether people will still buy them if I raise the prices. I think I’ll make a couple more, put them in the Etsy shop for a higher price and see what happens. On a regular sized doll I usually make $20 – 30 for about 15 hours work. And my time is limited.
Something I’ve wanted to do for a long time is make some bears as collectables so one of my aims for this year is to make a bear that I consider good enough to enter into a competition. Fingers crossed, we’ll see how I go!
